FULLY FUNDED TO SINGAPORE: Apply for the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) 2026 PhD scholarships

Applications are officially open for the prestigious Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) for the 2026 intake. This fully-funded scholarship opportunity is designed for exceptional international students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance at the undergraduate or master’s level and possess a deep interest in conducting advanced research that leads to a doctoral (PhD) or Engineering Doctorate (EngD) degree in science or engineering disciplines.

SINGA is a collaborative initiative involving some of Singapore’s top research institutions and universities, including the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Singapore Management University (SMU), and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). Successful applicants can pursue their doctoral studies at one of these universities or affiliated research institutes. Upon completion of their program, they will receive either a PhD or EngD awarded by NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT, depending on their research placement.

This opportunity is intended specifically for first-time international students who have not previously studied or are not currently studying in any of Singapore’s tertiary institutions. It is not available to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, or international students who have already studied in the country. Ideal candidates should have a solid academic background, strong written and spoken English skills, and positive recommendations from academic referees.

The scholarship covers up to four years of doctoral study and includes a full tuition waiver. Additionally, scholars receive a monthly living stipend starting at S$2,700, which increases to S$3,200 after successfully passing the qualifying examination. New students also receive a one-time settling-in grant of S$1,000, along with an airfare allowance of up to S$1,500 to support travel to Singapore.

While the scholarship is comprehensive, applicants should be aware of the typical monthly living expenses in Singapore. These may range from S$250 to S$600 for meals, depending on whether one eats at university canteens or outside. Accommodation in a single on-campus room is estimated between S$400 and S$700. Additional costs, such as local transportation and personal necessities, may add another S$500 to S$650 per month. Overall, the expected monthly cost of living ranges from S$1,400 to S$2,000.

This award offers a unique chance to immerse oneself in Singapore’s world-class research environment, gain advanced academic qualifications, and collaborate with leading scientists in one of Asia’s most dynamic innovation hubs.
