FULLY FUNDED TO SWEDEN: Apply for the Swedish Institute Masters Scholarship 2025 for young changemakers
The Swedish Institute (SI) is offering fully funded scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year to international professionals who want to pursue a master’s degree in Sweden. This program is designed to support future global leaders who are committed to advancing sustainable development and driving positive change in their communities. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to study at some of Sweden’s top universities, gaining world-class education while becoming part of an international network of changemakers.
The scholarship is available for students enrolling in one- or two-year full-time master’s programs taught in English. It covers a broad range of academic fields, with over 700 eligible programs across different Swedish universities. In addition to financial support, the Swedish Institute provides scholars with mentorship, networking opportunities, and professional development resources, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to their fields and create a lasting impact in their home countries.
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must hold citizenship from one of the 33 eligible countries designated by the Swedish Institute. While residency in the home country at the time of application is not required, applicants must be liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities. They must also have relevant work experience and demonstrate leadership skills either in a professional setting or through civil society engagement. Meeting these criteria is essential for applicants who wish to secure funding for their studies.
The scholarship provides comprehensive financial coverage, ensuring recipients can focus entirely on their education. It includes full tuition fee payment, made directly to the university. Additionally, scholars receive a monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover their living expenses throughout their study period. To support travel costs, a one-time grant of SEK 15,000 is provided, except for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, who receive SEK 10,000 instead. However, this travel grant does not apply to students who are already residing in Sweden at the time of their application.
Beyond financial assistance, scholars become part of an exclusive network designed to foster professional growth. While studying in Sweden, they join the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP), which connects them with experts and fellow scholars for collaboration and career development. After completing their studies, they gain access to the SI Alumni Network, which offers lifelong opportunities for networking and professional advancement.
Applications for the SI Scholarship open once a year for master’s programs beginning in the autumn semester. Prospective applicants should start preparing early by selecting an eligible master’s program and ensuring they meet the admission requirements set by Swedish universities. A list of eligible programs will be available on November 1, 2024. The application process involves first applying for admission to a university and then submitting a separate scholarship application to the Swedish Institute.
This scholarship is an incredible opportunity for professionals looking to further their education in Sweden while gaining the skills and connections needed to make a difference in their home countries. With full financial support, a strong professional network, and access to Sweden’s high-quality education system, recipients will be well-positioned to become leaders in their respective fields. Those interested in applying should take the necessary steps to prepare and ensure they submit a strong application before the deadline.
