FUNDED: Apply for the ACET Youth Policy Lab 2025 competition for young changemakers in Africa

Applications are open for the ACET Youth Policy Lab 2025, a groundbreaking initiative that invites young Africans to step into the world of policymaking and governance. This programme gives participants the rare chance to act as national decision-makers, working in teams to design innovative, evidence-based solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing development challenges. Blending the fast-paced energy of a hackathon with the careful discipline of policy design, the Policy Lab creates a unique space for young people to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and analytical skills while addressing real issues that matter to Africa’s future.

Running from August to November 2025, the programme will guide selected participants through an intensive journey that begins with team formation, continues with expert-led mentorship, and culminates in a live pitching event where youth-led solutions will be presented. Along the way, fellows will sharpen their abilities in policy analysis, problem-solving, and advocacy, while also benefiting from continent-wide visibility through a digital campaign that amplifies their ideas and voices.

The Lab is open to Africans between the ages of 18 and 35 who hold citizenship in Ghana, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, or Niger. It seeks applicants with a passion for governance, policy, and development, especially those eager to make meaningful contributions to inclusive and sustainable futures. Whether you are an aspiring policymaker, a social entrepreneur, or a committed youth leader, this opportunity provides a platform to engage at the highest levels of thought and practice.

Throughout the process, participants will not only compete for recognition but also gain invaluable experience through direct mentorship, exposure to policy experts, and collaboration with like-minded peers across Africa. The journey concludes in November with a pitch event that showcases innovative solutions to a wider audience of stakeholders. Outstanding participants will then join the YES Ambassador Network, a Pan-African leadership community that continues to foster cooperation, exchange of ideas, and long-term engagement in policy spaces.

The ACET Youth Policy Lab is more than just a contest—it is an experience that connects young Africans to the real dynamics of governance, equipping them to drive tangible change. By taking part, participants will bridge the gap between youth and policy, build professional networks that transcend borders, and contribute to reshaping Africa’s future with bold, youth-driven solutions.

Deadline for applications: 12 September 2025.
