PAID FELLOWSHIP: Apply for the African Liberty Writing Fellowship 2026–2027 for Emerging African Writers

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 African Liberty Writing Fellowship, a 12-month programme aimed at discovering and supporting talented African writers who are passionate about ideas such as freedom, individual rights, and limited government.

Organized by African Liberty, the fellowship provides a unique opportunity for emerging writers across Africa to strengthen their writing skills, publish their work, and contribute to conversations around policy, governance, and economic freedom.

The fellowship will run from July 2026 to July 2027 and will support selected fellows through structured mentorship, editorial guidance, and real-world media exposure.

What the Fellowship Offers

Participants selected for the programme will benefit from several opportunities designed to develop their writing careers and amplify their voices. Fellows will work closely with experienced editors who will provide guidance and feedback to help refine their writing and storytelling skills.

Top contributors will also receive monthly stipends in recognition of their outstanding work. In addition, fellows may gain media exposure through television and radio features, giving them the opportunity to share their perspectives with wider audiences.

The programme also offers fellows the chance to publish their articles in leading African newspapers, helping them build strong professional portfolios while contributing to important discussions on governance, freedom, and development across the continent.

Throughout the year, fellows will participate in a structured writing development programme designed to strengthen their research, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
