The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a global financial entity and a specialized branch of the United Nations focused on eliminating poverty and hunger in rural areas. It achieves this by investing in rural communities.
IFAD supports initiatives that boost agricultural productivity, improve rural incomes, and advocates for policies at various levels that help drive rural transformation.
IFAD offers two internship programs: the regular Internship Programme (IP) and the Enhanced Internship Programme (EIP). These programs provide a valuable six-month learning experience for recent university graduates or students who are pursuing fields related to IFAD’s mission.
To be eligible for the Internship Programme, applicants must be under 30 years old, enrolled in an accredited university or graduate school, have attended courses within the past 12 months, and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies when joining.
The application deadline is on a rolling basis.
Additional Information
Proficiency in English, with additional languages spoken at IFAD being advantageous. For interns recruited in IFAD country offices, fluency in the local language may be necessary.
Candidates must be under 30 years of age. The Enhanced Internship Programme specifically aims to increase the geographic diversity of staff at IFAD and is open to candidates meeting these criteria who are not based in Rome.
