Paid Opportunity: Youth Consultants Needed for Global UNCCD Research Project

 

Applications are open for youth consultants to support the UNCCD Youth Caucus in assessing how young people are involved in implementing the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). This initiative aims to examine the level and quality of youth participation in UNCCD processes, review the effectiveness of the Youth Engagement Strategy, highlight best practices and lessons learned, and contribute to a report that will be presented to the Conference of the Parties in line with Decision 5/COP 16.

Selected consultant(s) will assist with various research and coordination activities. These include helping design and distribute surveys, supporting the organisation and facilitation of consultations, conducting interviews and focus group discussions, providing rapporteur support during meetings, and contributing to the preparation of the final report.

This is a short-term consultancy expected to run from March to June 2026. The position is paid, and further details regarding workload and remuneration will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

They are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis, visualisation, and synthesis
  2. Familiarity with youth engagement within UNCCD or similar international processes (desirable)
  3. Research and writing experience, with samples that demonstrate relevant expertise
  4. A proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to contribute new ideas and strengthen team efforts
