VOLUNTEER ROLE: The Children and Youth Major Group to the UN Environment Programme (CYMG) is looking for a Communications Lead
Applications are open for the position of Communications Lead at the Children and Youth Major Group to the UN Environment Programme (CYMG).
The CYMG is inviting passionate and committed individuals to apply for the role of Communications Lead. This volunteer position offers the opportunity to contribute to global youth advocacy efforts addressing the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and pollution. As the formal youth engagement mechanism to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), CYMG ensures that young voices are meaningfully represented in international environmental decision-making.
The Communications Lead will work closely with a Co-Lead to manage CYMG’s full communications strategy. This includes overseeing social media platforms, newsletters, mailing lists, and other digital communication tools. The selected candidate will also coordinate a dynamic team of 5 to 10 volunteers, including graphic designers, web designers, and community engagement and social media leads.
Applicants should be prepared to dedicate a minimum of five hours per week to the role, although the time commitment may fluctuate depending on CYMG activities. The position will run for a one-year term, starting on or before July 5, 2025. While the role is unpaid, it offers valuable leadership experience in a high-impact, global youth-led network.
To apply, interested individuals must first be registered as members of CYMG. Applications will not be considered if membership has not been confirmed. The deadline for submitting the application form is June 29, 2025, at 23:59 UTC.
Those with questions about the role or application process are encouraged to contact the Global Coordinators via email at admin@cymgenv.net.
