VOLUNTEER ROLES: Join the The Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG) to UNEP as a remote volunteer!

The Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG) to the United Nations Environment Programme is inviting applications for its Communications Team. Interested individuals are encouraged to read through the details carefully before submitting their applications.

CYMG serves as an internationally recognized platform that brings together young people, networks, and organizations committed to tackling the interconnected crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. As the official youth partner to UNEP, CYMG works to amplify the voices of young people, ensuring they are empowered, represented, and actively engaged in global environmental decision-making and in shaping the environmental aspects of sustainable development. More about the work and mission of CYMG can be found on their website: https://www.cymgenv.net/.

The Communications Team is looking for motivated volunteers to support various functions. Opportunities are open for individuals with skills in graphic creation, visual storytelling, and digital design who can contribute by developing creative materials for campaigns and events, while collaborating with the broader communications and social media teams. In addition, there are roles focused on building and nurturing the CYMG community. These positions involve developing strategies to strengthen participation, welcoming new members, facilitating connections, and celebrating contributions within the network. Team members will also help manage communication platforms, organize internal exchanges, and share stories and updates that highlight the work of the community.

All volunteers are expected to dedicate at least four hours per week to these tasks, although the time required may vary depending on ongoing activities. The term of engagement will run for one year, beginning immediately after selection, with appointments confirmed by October 12, 2025. These roles are strictly voluntary and do not come with financial compensation.

Applicants must already be registered members of CYMG; applications from non-members cannot be considered. Membership can be obtained through the CYMG website at www.cymgenv.net/join. Those interested should complete the application form by October 20, 2025 at 23:59 UTC. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
