ONLINE COURSE: Apply for the British Council’s Climate Adaptation for Creatives Programme

Applications are now open for Climate Adaptation for Creatives, a unique international programme inviting professionals in the cultural and creative industries to explore how the arts can play a transformative role in climate and environmental action.

This 20-week initiative is designed as a peer-learning journey, encouraging participants to learn from one another while applying insights within their own practice and local context. Through a combination of expert-led sessions, interactive resources, and experiential activities, participants will move beyond theory into real-world creative responses to the climate crisis. Each individual will be supported to pursue personal interests, develop innovative solutions, and strengthen their ability to reimagine the role of the arts in shaping sustainable futures.

The programme is open to individuals with at least five years of experience in the creative industries, whether as practitioners or as professionals supporting the sector. Applicants must be based in the United Kingdom or in one of the following eligible countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. It is intended for those who are passionate about harnessing the power of the arts to address the challenges of climate change and who wish to deepen their understanding of the ecological emergency.

Throughout the programme, participants will build climate literacy by examining the causes of climate change, future climate scenarios, and their potential impacts on communities and creative work. They will also investigate how artistic practices can contribute to positive environmental change, learn through immersive activities that reconnect them with nature, and design practical projects that address the climate crisis in their own context. In addition, they will join a supportive international network of peers, fostering collaboration across disciplines, countries, and creative traditions.

The programme is offered free of charge. To successfully complete it, participants are expected to dedicate around two hours per week between October 2025 and February 2026, combining live sessions and independent study.

The deadline for applications is Sunday, 7 September 2025, at 23:59 BST, with the programme scheduled to begin the week of 22 September 2025.
